3000 km, 3000 Reasons: Crossing Europe on a bamboo bicycle to raise awareness of the benefits of sustainable transport and a healthy lifestyle.
There is a road that connects the cities of Berlin and Madrid. As this road unfolds, it traverses Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, France and Spain. It is a road of unimaginable beauty that stretches for about 3000km weaving its way through the central European flatlands, going over the mighty Alps, and the Pyrenees and finally reaching the Iberean central plateau. During the months of July and August of 2016, Santiago Tascon rode from Berlin to Madrid on his bamboo bicycle.
The documentary 3000REASONS, currently in post-production, will chronicle this trip and it will use this road as the leading thread to tell a much more important and pressing story: the need to re-think our transport choices and take the steps necessary to include a bicycle as a viable, safe and sustainable transport option.
3000REASONS will delve into the social, cultural, health and environmental benefits of including a bicycle in our daily lifes. Furthermore, it will seek out what steps need to be taken in order to make bicycle transport accessible and safe for all: investment in infrastructure, public awareness, a culture of respect and care towards bicycle drivers, etc.
